Tour Details

Chulu West (6,485 m.) is situated high above the Manang valley with breathtaking views across to the Annapurnas II, III and IV, Gangapurna, Glacier Dome, Dhaulagiri, Tilicho Peak and Manaslu. The climb of Chulu West is made from base camp in a small valley north of Manang from Leder situated off the main trail to Thorang-La. First ascent was on 04th November 1978 by Dr. Larry Zaroff; Peter Lev, Ang Jambo Sherpa and Lhakpa Nuru Sherpa. The Chulus peaks form part of the Manang Himal; which are included in the larger Damodar Himal. This climb is combined with the classic trek around the Annapurna massif, ascending the Marshyangdi valley and crossing the Thorung La, before descending the Kali Gandaki valley with a flight to Pokhara. The climb is technically in some section with straightforward and should be familiar with the use of your equipment, crampons, harness, and ice axe, tying knots and handling climbing ropes. Most of the climbing will be involved walking roped together, including the glacial crossings
