The swiftest route to the abode of Lord Shiva: from Kathmandu by air to the remote Karnali valleys of Humla, a helicopter lift to the border at Hilsa, and onward to the divine darshan of Sacred Lake Mansarovar and the three-day Parikrama of Holy Mount Kailash.
Upper Humla holds immense social and cultural significance as a living museum of Nepal, preserving a unique blend of ancient Tibetan culture and Buddhism. Serving as a gateway to Mount Kailash, the region has functioned for centuries as a high-altitude hub for trade and pilgrimage.
On arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will welcome you with a garland and escort you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure.
Morning darshan at Shri Pashupatinath Temple. In the afternoon, fly to Nepalgunj (approx. 55 minutes). On arrival, transfer to your hotel for the Yatra briefing and packing.
A scenic flight to Simikot (approx. 50 minutes) with panoramic views of the Himalaya and the remote Karnali region. Rest and acclimatise in this small mountain town.
An early morning helicopter lift to Hilsa (approx. 20 minutes). Walk 15 minutes and cross the Friendship Bridge to Sher, complete immigration formalities and continue by road to Purang (approx. 27 km, 1 hour).
A day at Purang to allow your body to adjust to the altitude, with short walks around town and nearby monasteries.
Drive to Sacred Lake Mansarovar (approx. 110 km, 2-3 hours). Divine darshan of the lake and its Parikrama, with darshan of the southern face (Guru Mukh) of Holy Mount Kailash, Gurla Mandhata (7,694 m), Chiu Gompa and Rakshas Tal.
Witness sunrise over Lake Mansarovar with darshan of Holy Mount Kailash, then perform puja and Vedic rituals on the sacred shore. Drive to Darchen (approx. 40 km, 1-2 hours), the base for the Kailash Parikrama.
Drive to Yama Dwar (approx. 20 minutes) and begin the trek to Diraphuk (approx. 13 km, 7-8 hours) with darshan of the west face of Mount Kailash. At Diraphuk, behold the north face, the Kailash Purna Lingam, Nag Swaroop and Diraphuk Gompa.
The most demanding and sacred day of the Yatra: approx. 22 km in 9-10 hours, crossing Dolma La (5,630 m), the highest point of the journey, with darshan of Shivasthali, Ganesh Kund, Ganesh Parvat and Gauri Kund (5,608 m).
A gentle trek of approx. 8 km (3 hours) completes the Kailash Parikrama. Drive to Darchen, rest, then continue to Purang (approx. 105 km, 2-3 hours) and cross the border to Hilsa.
Helicopter from Hilsa to Simikot, connecting with flights to Nepalgunj and onward to Kathmandu. Transfer to your hotel.
Your sacred journey concludes. Transfer to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward destination, carrying with you the blessings of Kailash and Mansarovar.
