The Arun Valley Trek is one of Nepal’s most beautiful off-the-beaten-path adventures, located between the world’s highest peaks — Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu. This trek offers a rare opportunity to explore the untouched region of eastern Nepal, rich in biodiversity, traditional Rai and Sherpa villages, and pristine landscapes.

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, our representative will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. After check-in, there will be a short briefing about the trek and final preparations.
After breakfast, take a scenic flight to Tumlingtar, a small town located between the Arun and Sabha rivers in eastern Nepal. Tumlingtar is known as the largest Tar (flat valley) and one of the deepest valleys in the world. From there, begin your trek through charming villages, green meadows, and rolling hills before reaching Chyawabesi.
Today’s trail passes through fertile fields and terraced rice paddies along the Arun Koshi River. The route leads to Balawa Besi (320m) and ascends through lush Sal forests, crossing Nepali Danda and Bharta villages. From the ridge, you’ll get your first glimpse of the verdant Arun Valley. Continue through the Rai village of Marduwa (1500m) and along the Irkhuwa Khola, passing banana farms and rice terraces until you reach Gothey Bazaar.
An early morning trake towards Salpa Phedi, the gateway to the Solu Khumbu region. The trail ascends steadily for around 7 hours, offering panoramic views of Mt. Kanchenjunga, Mt. Makalu, and Mt. Everest along the way.
Today’s trek climbs uphill for about three hours through beautiful rhododendron and pine forests to reach Sanam, a traditional Sherpa village. Along the way, you’ll pass through the small settlement of Huaca and then reach Guranse, where you’ll rest for the night.
Trek starts with descending trail to the charming valley of Bung. The trail offers breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Makalu, and surrounding peaks. Bung is a picturesque Rai and Sherpa settlement with a tranquil atmosphere.
After breakfast, continue your trek toward Gai Kharka (2,300m), located about 81 km from Dhankuta. The area offers a magnificent view of Mt. Makalu and the lush Arun Valley.
Today’s trek is relatively short and easy, taking about 3–4 hours. Descend gently to Paiyan, where you can spend the afternoon exploring the area and watching a stunning sunset over the eastern Himalayas.
After breakfast, trek uphill to Lukla a bustling Sherpa village and the gateway to Everest. Take some time to explore the village, meet the locals, and experience the unique Sherpa culture and lifestyle.
Take an early morning flight from Lukla back to Kathmandu. Sit on the right side of the plane for the best mountain views. Upon arrival, you’ll be transferred to your hotel for rest or head out to local market last-minute shopping.
