Tour Details

Langtang Helambu trekking is famous trail as it is closer from Kathmandu with easy accessibility compared to other trekking region of Nepal. This trekking covers one of the famous religious spot mentioned in ancient Hindu writings “Gosaikunda Lake” offering pilgrimage prospects with adventures and cultural features. 

This trek offers you to experience beautiful and unforgettable moments rather than the mountain views dominated in Annapurna or Khumbu region with less crowd and interesting peoples of Tamang community. 

Itinerary

Day 01Arrival in Kathmandu (1,337 m)

Our team will warmly welcome you at Tribhuvan International Airport with a traditional Nepali garland and transfer you to the hotel. After check-in, there will be a short briefing about the trekking program and preparations.

Day 02Kathmandu to Syabrubesi (1,460 m) - 9 hours

After breakfast, drive about 6 hours passing through many rural towns and villages to reach Dhunche; one of the main town, also called Gateway to trek to Langtang Region. After lunch at Dhunche, further, drive about 2 hours to reach Syabrubesi Village.

Day 03Syabrubesi to Riverside (2,042m) or Bamboo - 5 hours

Trek start after breakfast with gradual ascending path beside Langtang River to reach Thulo Syabru for lunch. Continue to RIverside or Bamboo; a place famous for camping with quality time and refreshment in the bank of Upper Trishuli River.

Day 04Riverside to Ghodatabela (2,880m) - 5 hours

Start trek after breakfast through cool forest and gorges following the torrential glacial river upstream passing forests of Oak and Rhododendron, beautiful villages and tea houses. Reach to Lama Hotel for lunch. Further trek 3 hours to reach a wonderful spot of Ghodatabela; situated in the middle of Pines, Hemlock and Rhododendron forest. In Nepali, Ghodatabela means horse-stable, as this was an ideal place for the cattle and horses to graze on the meadows for traders.

Day 05Ghodatabela to Langtang Village (3, 307m) - 3 hours

The trail climbs gradually through meadows and Tamang settlements, with beautiful views of Langtang Lirung and the surrounding mountains. Arrive at Langtang Village, rebuilt after the 2015 earthquake, and enjoy its peaceful atmosphere.

Day 06Langtang Valley to Kynging Gompa (3850m) - 4 hours

After a pleasant stay at Langtang Village, trek few hours uphill passing high alpine bushes and vegetation reaching to Mani Prayer wall. Trekkers are suggested to make a clockwise round of the Prayer as per local cultural ritual. Further trek about 5 hours to reach Kyanging Gompa; a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains.

Day 07Acclimatization and Exploration Day

Day free for acclimatizing in high altitude. You have an option to climb Kyanging Ri; from where 360-degree views of mountains can be seen and nearby popular monastery.

Day 08Kynging Gompa to Lama Hotel (2470m) - 7 hours

Retrace your steps down the valley, passing Langtang Village and Ghodatabela. Enjoy the pleasant forest trails and the warm mountain air.

Day 09Lama Hotel to Upper Syabru Village (2,118m) - 6 hours

After breakfast, trek for about an hour passing bridge and wonderful forest of Bamboo. Ascend through the farm terraces and rocky landslides reaching Upper Syabru.

Day 10Syabru Village to Singh Gompa or Chandanbari (3,254m) - 5 hours

Climb steadily uphill through rhododendron and oak forests. Along the way, enjoy panoramic views of Manaslu, Langtang, Ganesh Himal, and Annapurna ranges. Arrive at Chandanbari, also known as Singh Gompa, famous for its yak cheese factory.

Day 11Chandanbari to Gosainkunda (4,381m) - 5 hours

After breakfast, trek uphill with a spectacular view of mountains like Langtang Ranges, Ganesh Ranges in the northwest along with Manaslu and Annapurna Ranges in the west. Leaving tree lines and vegetation behind reach Lauribina for the lunch and further trek few hours to reach to Gosainkunda; a holy pond for Hindu pilgrimage.

Day 12Gosainkunda to Ghopte Odar (3,566m) via Laurabina Pass (4,609 m) - 6 hours

After breakfast, a trail leads with the gradual half an hour walk from the edge of Gosainkunda Lake to Suryakunda; lying at the base of Surya Peak. Trek gradually to Lauribina Pass (4609 m); highest altitude to reach in this trail, descend to the bottom with some teahouses for lunch. Enter Helambu Region with beautiful vegetation of Rhododendron and Junipers, trek for 4 hours to reach Ghopte Odar (Overhanging Rocks) popular for many small caves around.

Day 13Ghopte Odar to Melamchigaon (2,560m) via Tharepati (3,595m) - 6 hours

Trek early after breakfast passing beautiful vegetation, secluded pastures, temporary shelters (Goths) for live hoods, valleys with terrace farmland. Descend via Tharepati to reach to Melamchigaon for about 4 hours.

Day 14Melamchigaon to Tarkegyang (2,560m) - 3 hours

After breakfast, trek gradually passing through beautiful farmlands, apple trees and gorges reaching Tarkegyang; one of the primary village of the Helambu area with less human settlement. Visit Tarkegyang (monastery) at evening .

Day 15Tarkegyang to Sermathang (2,621m) -5 hours

Trek after breakfast for about 4 hours passing some small villages, beautiful landscapes and winding paths reaching to Shermathang.

Day 16Shermathang to Melamchi Pul (840m) - 6 hours

The last day of trek starts after breakfast following downhill passing through mid-hill valleys of Kakani and Thimbu all the way to Melamchi Pul Bazar; a busy popular market for trade and business as well as main spot to travel to Kathmandu from surrounding villages.

Day 17Melamchi Pul to Kathmandu - 5 hours

After breakfast, drive back to Kathmandu via Dhulikhel, enjoying the views of rural landscapes and small villages.

Day 18Departure

After breakfast, our representative will transfer you to Tribhuvan International Airport for your onward flight.
