Kathmandu · Nagarkot

This short break pairs Kathmandu‘s major Temples with a night in the hills at Nagarkot, one of the valley’s classic viewpoints for the Himalayan skyline. After settling in on arrival, day two covers Budhanilkantha, Pashupatinath, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Doleshwor Mahadev before the drive up to Nagarkot for sunset over the mountains, weather permitting. The following morning starts with the sunrise view from the hotel, then continues to Changu Narayan, one of the valley’s oldest Vishnu Temples, and on to Namo Buddha Monastery, where a short walk takes in both mountain views and Buddhist culture, before returning to Kathmandu. With no long drives and easy walking throughout, this is a straightforward introduction to the Kathmandu Valley and its hill-station views for travellers with limited time, built around sightseeing rather than trekking or wildlife.
